Research to decide on a song

To decide on a song for our video, probably the most important choice of the project, me and the rest of my group picked a short list of possibles. We firstly decided to pick a song of the Indie genre, this is because we felt it would be an easier genre to tackle as we felt there were a lot of conventions of Indie music videos that we could be inspired by. Conventions such as a performance within the video. To seek out some of these conventions and to find a suitable song to use for our video I started to look for songs that had the potential to become the perfect song to use.

Spanish Sahara - Foals http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaVE4WVlsDQ - I really like this song and came up with a few good ideas for a video. The current video for this song is very dark and hard to understand exactly what is happening. We chose against this song as it is too long at 6:50 minutes.

Arcade Fire - Headlights Look Like Diamonds http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwiXOUhBeho - Again, this song, gave me some good ideas for a music video. It has a lot of imagery within it that could be used to create a storyline for the video. 'The red lights mean you're leaving. The white ones mean returning' - obvious car imagery that could be used in a video in a literal sense, but it still has a mournful edge - 'Tell me how this story ends/Before the fires go cold'.  We decided not to use this song because we thought our third shortlisted choice could create a better storyline - The Killers - Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine.
