Statement of Intent

My name is Sarah Dixon. I'm an A2 Media student studying my second year at York College. I also study Biology, English Literature and Geography. This blog shows the work I have done for my Media project that makes up my coursework which is fifty percent of my final grade. This project consists of a music video, an advert and a digipak for a music artist. I hope to achieve a high grade in this subject by creating coursework of an 'excellent' standard. This grade will then help me to recieve the UCAS points to get me to my first choice university. I chose to do media because it is a creative subject that is fun to do and serves as a break from the academic subjects I do.

I have chosen to use 'Blogger' blogging site because it is simple and easy to use. I also found creating the account and blog was an extremely easy process. It has all the necessary tools needed to create a good blog and they are all accessible and easy to use.

My deadline for the project is until the Christmas holidays, which is about fourteen weeks time. This should be long enough to create my coursework to a high standard.I hope to use my time well and not have a lot of time left over with nothing to do as this suggests I haven't done enough work. But, on the otherhand, I don't want to rushing to finish at the end as this will lower the standard of my work.

Lots of research is needed to carry out this project well. Examples of research I could use is looking at existing music videos and blogs made by previous media students I will find these by searching the internet, especially on specific sites such as 'youtube'. Other research needed is to find suitable locations by looking at different places locally and taking photos of them or going on google maps and looking at the images that can be seen on google street view. I also need to find actors and performers to star in my music video. I need to make sure these are confident people that will carry the part well and have a good presence within the video. Research also needs to be carried out in order to be prepared to make the advert and digipak. This requires a wider knowledge of the band involved, this can be done through the internet.

When looking for feedback on the final music video, it will be posted on 'youtube' in order to get feedback from a range of people from a range of places, not being restricted to people I know and may be biased and other people from my class that have also carried out the project. I hope to receive favourable and positive feedback for my project as it is such a key part of the project on a whole and will make a large difference on my grade by the end of the year. I'll ensure my music video is a success by being prepared before making the video and working well with the rest of my group to make sure we are all happy with a final product that is of a very high standard.

  1. This is a good start Sarah but I think we could edit it down a little bit. Is there a suitable theme that you could use for your blog? It's a little dark at the moment.
